 MONTGOMERY COUNTY JUNIOR

MARKET SHOW & SALE

Wednesday, July 16 - 6:30 P.M.

Entry Fee $2.50 per animal

1.   Refer to the rules governing livestock entries before proceeding.

2.  This class will be open to any in-county resident age 8-18 and who is enrolled in 4-H or FFA or is an out-of-county resident enrolled in a Montgomery County 4-H club or FFA.
3.  All animals must be owned and shown by the exhibitor and must have been fed, cared for and developed by said exhibitor.
4.  All exhibitors will volunteer 4 hours of work time to be completed at the fairgrounds to be eligible to sell their livestock. A completed work certificate must be on file with the Fair Office.
5.  All exhibitors will purchase a season ticket – one season ticket per exhibitor – season tickets will be purchased using the livestock exhibitor forms found in the fair book or on the web site.  Season Tickets will be $30.   Please DO NOT purchase the season tickets ahead of time.
6.  The Fair Society will retaina  5% commission from each exhibitors auction funds.

7.  Market Sheep & Market Goats must have official ID/ tattoo, Health Papers and a Scrapie Tag..
8.  ALL Market Hogs, Sheep, and Steers in the market show will participate in rate of gain.  An exhibitor may have two animals, per species (hogs, sheep, or steers), weighed for rate of gain.
9.  At the time of weigh-in, July 14, all market animals must possess the proper ear tag with the corresponding tattoo assigned at the individual weigh-in.
10.  All animals will be weighed before showing and will be broken into weight classes.  Only one animal per species per exhibitor will be weighed.
11.  Weight ranges: Cattle minimum 1000 lbs.; Hogs 230 lbs. minimum and Lambs 90 lbs. minimum.
12.  Exhibitors may show one animal in every species, however only one species may be sold at the auction.  Exception – if an exhibitor has a Grand Champion or Reserve Champion in more than one species.
13. 
Exhibitor must be capable of showing and selling their own animal.
14.  If an animal gets away from an exhibitor at least two times during the fair, the exhibitor will not be allowed to show and the exhibitor will be asked to take the animal home.
15. Animals will be exhibited according to the following schedule:

Market Hogs - Tuesday, 8:00 a.m.; Market Steers - Tuesday following Hog Show; Market Sheep Tuesday, 1:00 p.m.; Market Goats, following Sheep Show; Poultry on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m.; and Rabbits following the Poultry Show.

         16.  Steers must be calved from January 1 to September 1, 2007.
         17.  All hogs will be judged 40% on the live placing in the show ring; 20% on the rate of gain and
                40% on the percent muscle.  Exhibitor will be responsible for cost of sonray for their animal.
                There will be NO Champion On-Foot named.
        18.  No visible sign of testicles in steers.  No sign of warts in steers.
        19.  The sale order will be the same as the placings
        20.  Animals not being sold at auction must be removed from the Fairgrounds by Tuesday, 10:00
               pmafter the market show.
        21.  Market Steers will have sale pictures taken prior to the auction at 4:00 p.m.
